Does Age Have An Affect On IVF?

Women under the age of 35 have 35% and those who are over 40 have 5-14% of live birth rates given to them through IVF.

The success in IVF has many factors. But we can easily say that age is a huge factor.

Not being able to have a baby is known as a major health problem today. Providing a family with the baby they longed for is the most important health service.

We can comfortably say that, you have a 15-20% chance to become pregnant naturally. Having a baby via IVF is the most helpful method in this regard.

IVF treatment has bought many hopes to thousands of families, thanks to the developing technology and evolving techniques. But most couples await positive results from IVF, which is wrong because the success of IVF comes when the mother finally takes baby home.

The success rate drops with age.

The success rate in IVF depends on the sperm count, the quality of mothers eggs, and a few other factors. But age is the most important factor. The success rate of treatment really depends on the age of the woman. Females are born with 1-2 million egg reserve and drops down to 250-300 thousand once she reaches her menstrual age. Those numbers fall rapidly when menopausal. After the age of 37 it is evident that the loss of egg reserve becomes larger and the quality of the eggs are not that great. The most productive years of a woman for pregnancy is between 25-34 years of age. Both egg quality and the amount of reserve changes as women grow older. In parallel, the treatment success rate decreases with age advancing, the risk of miscarriage increases.
